Midwives are autonomous care providers who value informed choice, continuity of care, and choice of birth place for pregnant individuals. Midwives support pregnancy and birth as a normal physiological event, supporting clients and their families through the physical and emotional experiences of pregnancy and childbirth.
Midwives are integrated into the provincial health care system and work with doctors, nurses and health professionals when needed to provide appropriate and holistic care. You do not need a referral to access midwifery care.
